A number of things contribute to triggers that may very well cause an asthma attack such as outdoor allergens, and getting the flu or pneumonia. Getting the flu or pneumonia can be stopped if vaccinations are taken currently. Minimizing contact with outdoor allergens that may trigger an asthma is a way to lower an asthmatic persons' need for medication, such as the use of an inhaler. If a person has advanced asthma, they should take their medications as prescribed and use them correctly. Using asthmatic medication correctly is very important, especially for someone outside of the mild range for asthma. People with asthma can/will play an important role in managing their asthma by avoiding triggers and monitoring their symptoms. To get help controlling asthmatic symptoms and triggers, patients should work with their healthcare provider.
Wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath are some of the main symptoms caused by asthma. Wheezing is described as a whistling sound naturally occurring when a patient is breathing in or out. As for coughing, a cough may get worse over night or early in the morning, and may seem to never go away. The feeling that something heavy is on your chest would be the explanation of chest tightness; and., the shortness of breath, would be feeling as if you are always out of breath. These are just some of the most common symptoms experienced by people with asthma. Symptoms may vary depending on the patient.
